The Bahamas is not the only country facing challenges in the adoption of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). Similar issues have been reported in countries such as China and Nigeria. In China, some government workers involved in the central bank’s digital currency pilot project prefer to convert their digital yuan back into traditional cash. Concerns about ease of use and possible government surveillance are the reasons for this preference.
