Ambitious 2024 roadmap includes 8x throughput increase, zkAuth for Web2 IDs, major funding
Moonbeam Network
, a smart contract platform for building cross-chain connected applications, announced the “Moonrise” initiative, which builds on its 2024 product roadmap, including the introduction of parallel processing to increase throughput 8x, upgraded ecosystem integrations, improved developer and user experience, etc. Moonrise marks the next stage in the evolution of Moonbeam and the canary network Moonriver, which is integrating Axelar bridging technology.
More than two years since its mainnet launch in January 2022, Moonbeam has become a leading solution for integrating networks such as Polkadot, Ethereum, and the broader EVM ecosystem. The 2024 roadmap demonstrates Moonbeam’s commitment to continuously improving its cutting-edge performance and experience for developers and users.
The Moonrise plan is reflected in the comprehensive redesign of Moonbeam's appearance, emphasizing that Moonbeam is more than just a chain. It is a center that provides services for developers, Web3 enthusiasts, interoperability supporters, etc.
“We are very excited to unveil Moonbeam’s new identity, in conjunction with our 2024 ambitions. This year, we will be making improvements, upgrades, and announcements to all aspects of the Moonbeam and Moonriver networks,” said Aaron Evans, Director of Operations at the Moonbeam Foundation. “As our passionate community of supporters know, Moonbeam is a modern blockchain with features that are still a dream for developers and users of other networks still in the testnet stage.”
One of the keys to the 2024 roadmap is enhancing the core protocol by introducing asynchronous support, a form of parallel processing that will quadruple block space and halve block times to 6 seconds, increasing Moonbeam’s overall throughput by 8x.
Further improvements include ensuring compatibility and seamless interoperability with Ethereum’s gas-saving Dencun upgrade, a major upgrade to the user experience of Moonbeam Routed Liquidity, and improvements to the governance mechanism.
Other highlights include:
Ecosystem Integrations: Glacis integration, reliable cross-chain transactions, Tanssi integration, Lisk deployment, reinvigorating Moonriver for Axelar’s Amplifier bridge program, and v3 AMM liquidity program.
Developer Tools: Governance tracking for dApps, support for EIP-4337 account abstraction, and expanded tool integration for development, deployment, and debugging/monitoring.
User experience: Zero-knowledge initiative for Web2 authentication (zkAuth), token economic incentive updates, and simplified stablecoin liquidity.
The rollout will begin immediately and will continue through the third and fourth quarters of 2024 and into 2025.

About Moonbeam Network
Moonbeam
Moonbeam is a smart contract platform for building cross-chain connected applications that can access users, assets, and services on any chain. By unifying functionality from Ethereum, Cosmos, Polkadot, and more onto a single platform, Moonbeam solves today’s fragmented user experience problem — enabling true interoperability and paving the way for the next generation of applications. The Moonbeam platform leverages integrated cross-chain messaging to allow developers to create smart contracts that can access many remote blockchain services. This approach, coupled with Moonbeam’s developer-friendly EVM platform, extensive tool support, and modern Substrate architecture, lays the foundation for an ideal development environment for building connected applications.
